(C1196-17-612) COLT FIRST MODEL DERINGER
Markings along the bbl flat along with No. 1. On the bottom of the bbl is the serial number 1691; built in the very early 1870s. Cal is 41 rim fire. These guns were all metal including the handle. It has a very nice aged patina on the frame. The bbl is nickel plated and retains almost all of the nickel. It is possibly re nickeled? It even has the original opening latch which you see missing on a lot of these. A couple of pits in the otherwise good + bore. These little Colts were very popular with gamblers and soiled doves. This one is very nice. Solid and tight. A good collectable. e

The Richards conversion was of course 44 center fire cartridge. The bbl is 5-3/4" long. Bbl markings are very readable. Cylinder scene is somewhat visible. Most refinished blue remains. Grips have also been cleaned up. 2 different serial numbers; one being on the trigger guard and bottom of the butt. The other numbers are matching with the cylinder. Ainsworth stampings visible. This is an early variation featuring the small trigger guard. Serial number is 5910 all numbers matching. This was either a presentation gun or the owner had his name professionally put on the bottom of the grip frame. Fancy scrolling. The name is " H. G. Seely." Overall condition of this Colt is very nice. There is still some blue remaining with the remainder turning an antique plumish color. The cylinder is mostly grey colored.
