It comes with a long list of letters & provenance and is also pictured extensively in Ron Stadt's "Winchester Shotguns and Shotshells" book as well as Dennis Adler's "Winchester Shotgun" book. The gun is beautiful with nicely figured deluxe grade wood; in exc cond with sharp checkering and orig hardrubber buttplate. The excellent original 30" bbls are choked improved cylinder & improved cylinder with dbl locking lugs and doll's head rib extension. Overall exc with 75% toning finish on the bbls; 40-50% case colors on the rec. Rec's are very nicely engraved, marked "Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Match Gun." Factory trap style stock with the Black Diamond, receiver is scroll engraved with gold gilded engraved vignettes on both sides featuring a duck and pheasant. Probably a factory replaced vent rib, 30 barrel retaining all bright shiny blue, barrel is numbered and proofed to match. Excellent forearm matches the newer front end, original buttstock is VG with a light coat of varnish added. Spacers are added to provide a 13-7/8 pull to the end of a Winchester pad. 12 Gauge with 32" bbls. The match grade, of course, was the highest quality Winchester Double Bbl Shotgun that you could get and this one is a fine example. Very nice markings, some case colors remaining on the frame, bbls have mostly grayed out, very nice, clean, smooth metal, bright shiny good bores, nice tight pivot pin and lock-up. Wood is also in VG cond with no cracks around the locks or off of the tangs. Forearm wood has a small splinter missing on each side towards the forearm cap, ebony inlay. (8581-17-240) WINCHESTER MODEL 21 GRAND AMERICAN, 2-BARREL CASED SET
The 26" bbl is choked Skeet and Skeet, the 30" bbl choked full and modified. Orig pistol grip stock has a 14" pull to the end of the original leather-covered pad, typical Grand American fleur d'lis checkering, engraving is also quite typical for a Grand American with a duck inlaid in gold on both sides of the receiver and a gold inlaid setter on the bottom, raised ventilated ribs on both bbls, serial number 33,061. Overall cond is exc+ retaining virtually all of the orig blue and is one of the last guns engraved by John Kusmit before he retired. The top of the rib reads, "Custom Built by Winchester for John R. Woods", triggerguard is marked "J.R.W." and these initials are also gold embossed on the side of the Winchester case which is in exc cond with just some very minor handling marks showing. (8675-17-208) VERY FINE FACTORY ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 97 BLACK DIAMOND PIGEON GUN
This gun features the typical trap shooting scene on one side of the receiver and a hunting scene on the other side. Marked on top of the receiver: 'Presented to W.B. Weidler by the members of the Buck Creek Hunting Club, 1907'. This inscription is in the Factory Letter as are all the other specifications on the gun. Overall gun has been used some but is in very nice cond with a 28" bbl, full choke, fine bore, matted rib. Orig 3X checkered deluxe grade Black Diamond wood is in very nice+ cond with a considerable amount of orig varnish and the correct hardrubber buttplate. Overall metal retains a considerable amount of blue which is starting to turn a plummish coloration with good traces of blue on bbl and mag; the receiver retains about half the blue.  Very interesting gun. Engraved on both sides of the receiver is a trap shooting scene. This is a factory pattern that Winchester used occasionally but is rarely seen. Gun features two 28" bbls; one modified, one full and retaining approximately 80-90% orig blue. Both forearms are checkered deluxe burl wood. Rec retains 70-75% orig blue with a slight toning of brown appearing here and there. Black Diamond butt stock with nice extra figure has slight crack on top left about 1 inch long from receiver back.
